A stamp issue to mark the 900th Anniversary of the return of Saint Agatha’s relics: preview in Catania

On 1 February, a preview of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta’s stamp issue was presented in Catania, marking the 900th Anniversary of the return of Saint Agatha’s relics, Patron Saint of the city.

The presentation was attended by, among others, His Excellency Monsignor Luigi Renna, Archbishop of the Diocese of Catania, His Excellency Fra’ Nicolò Custoza de’ Cattani, Grand Prior of Naples and Sicily, Nobleman Ferdinando Testoni Blasco, Grand Prioral Delegate of Catania and Dr Giorgio Battioni, Director of the Order of Malta’s Poste Magistrali.

During the event, the deep and ancient bond between the Order of Malta and Saint Agatha was recalled, which is now celebrated through this stamp issue. The Order of Malta is present in Catania with the Grand Priory Delegation, which is active in the area through numerous charitable and charitable and assistance activities.

The stamp issue is now available for purchase at the Poste Magistrali office counter inside the Magistral Palace in Rome and, in Catania, at the Church of San Martino ai Bianchi until 5 February, at the end of the celebrations in honour of Saint Agatha.
