On the occasion of the APPIIPHIL 2023 National Philatelic Exhibition, scheduled to be held at the Piana delle Orme Museum in Latina, near Rome, from May 12th to 14th 2023, the Poste Magistrali counter located inside the Magistral Palace in Rome, with public entrance from Via delle Carrozze 79, will use the special postmark on May 12th.

The postmark, created by Giancarlo Federico, reproduces a glimpse of the Via Appia Antica (the Appian Way), one of the greatest civil engineering works of the ancient world built between the late 4th and 3rd centuries B.C. to connect Rome with Brundisium and considered by the Romans to be the regina viarum (literally translated Queen of the Streets).

Completing the postmark are the inscriptions “SOVRANO MILITARE ORDINE DI MALTA”, “POSTE MAGISTRALI” and “APPIIPHIL 2023”, and the date “12.V.2023.”
