A special postmark for the Pilgrimage to Loreto 2024

A special postmark for the Pilgrimage to Loreto 2024

In October of each year, the three Italian Grand Priories of the Order of Malta make a pilgrimage to the Holy House of Loreto, in Loreto (Ancona). Since the Middle Ages, the Holy House of Loreto is believed to be the house where the Virgin Mary lived and raised the young Jesus. In 1469, a large basilica was built around the small shrine and the holy place attracts millions of pilgrims and visitors every year.

The pilgrimage of 2024 will feature a stand of the Order of Malta’s Poste Magistrali, where a special postmark dedicated to the pilgrimage will be used, showing a view of the city of Loreto, with the dome and bell tower of the famous Sanctuary.

The stand will be accessible, only on Saturday 26 October, in a room on the ground floor of the Apostolic Palace of Loreto.
