The Lord Mayor of Dublin, Emma Blain, on a visit to Rome last week, together with the Dublin City Council, met the Mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, in Campidoglio.

During the meeting, the two mayors shared reflections and ideas on the main challenges and needs that characterise the management of large cities, including housing policies and the management of public areas, both expressing a keen interest in collaborating in the search for solutions of common interest, expanding the discussion also with the mayors of other cities.

On the occasion of the visit, Mayor Blain presented Mayor Gualtieri with a copy of the Order of Malta’s postal issue, dedicated to the 850th anniversary of the establishment of the Order’s first Priory in Ireland, issued by Poste Magistrali on 4 December last.  The issue consists of four stamps in a sheetlet, on which is depicted a drawing by the Irish artist Stephen Conlin, showing the reconstruction of the Priory of the Order of the Knights of St. John in Kilmainham, an ancient village originally just outside the city walls of Dublin, which became part of the city’s extension over time. For this reason, one of the stamps on the sheet also features the coat of arms of the city of Dublin.
