A special first day of issue postmark was available for The diplomatic missions of the Order – Palazzo Orsini in Rome, seat of the Embassy to the Holy See issued on 23 June 2022.

Designed by Giancarlo Federico, it reproduces the “Tavolo Borghese” (Borghese Table), created by Alessandro Algardi in 1634-1635 for Prince Marcantonio Borghese using a rare jasper slab inherited from Cardinal Scipione Borghese and completed in 1773 by Luigi Valadier. The table is placed in the centre of the Salone Verde of Casa Litta in Palazzo Orsini, seat of the Embassy of the Sovereign Order of Malta to the Holy See.
The postmark is completed by the inscriptions “SOVRANO MILITARE ORDINE DI MALTA”, “POSTE MAGISTRALI” and “GIORNO DI EMISSIONE”, the legend “AMBASCIATA PRESSO LA SANTA SEDE – CASA LITTA – PALAZZO ORSINI” and the date “23.VI.2022”.

Items for reposting, individually franked by the sender with stamps belonging to the relevant set, must reach Poste Magistrali by 23 August 2022. A suitable self-addressed envelope, bearing Order of Malta stamps corresponding to the ordinary (Posta4) or priority (Posta1) mail  rate in force in Italy, must be enclosed for the postmarked items to be returned under cover. For return by registered mail, please contact Poste Magistrali in advance.

Items to be returned uncovered must reach Poste Magistrali by 8 July 2022 and must be individually marked “Corrispondenza filatelica” (Philatelic correspondence) on the address side in indelible ink. In case of missing, it will be automatically applied by Poste Magistrali.
