On the occasion of his canonization, with a Eucharistic celebration in St Peter’s Square on 7 September 2025, the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, together with Vatican City, Italy and San Marino, pays tribute to Saint Pier Giorgio Frassati (1901-1925), who dedicated his life to prayer and helping the needy, and who died young due to a sudden serious illness.

The stamp depicts a portrait of the Saint by the painter Alberto Falchetti (1878-1951), owned by the Frassati family.

The stamp is completed by the legend “CANONIZZAZIONE DI PIER GIORGIO FRASSATI” (Canonization of Pier Giorgio Frassati) and the inscriptions “SOVRANO MILITARE ORDINE DI MALTA” (Sovereign Military Order of Malta) and “POSTE MAGISTRALI”, the coat of arms of the Order’s activities and the face value “€ 1.35”.
