To mark the centenary of her death, the Sovereign Military Order of Malta pays tribute to Margherita of Savoy, the first Queen Consort of Italy, and also as a Dame Grand Cross of Honour and Devotion of the Order of Malta, into which she was admitted on 19 July 1906, at the Grand Priory of Lombardy and Venice.

The stamp on the left features a portrait of Margherita of Savoy, painted by Francesca Gambacorta Magliani in the late 19th century, and housed in the Royal Castle of Racconigi, in Piedmont, Italy.

The stamp on the right depicts the Queen’s coat of arms.

Both stamps are completed by the inscription “Regina Margherita di Savoia” (Queen Margherita of Savoy), “1926 2026”, the words “SOVRANO MILITARE ORDINE DI MALTA” and “POSTE MAGISTRALI”, the coat of arms of the Order’s activities and the face value “€1.30”.
