The € 1.35 stamp features the flag of the Order of Malta, with its distinctive eight-pointed cross, and the flag of the Republic of Serbia.

The € 3.30 stamp depicts the fresco of the winged Saint John the Baptist, which is located inside the Pustinja Monastery in Serbia. St John the Baptist, who is also the patron Saint of the Order of Malta, is one of the most significant figures in the Orthodox religious tradition and is greatly venerated in Serbia.

The stamps are completed by the inscriptions ‘2001–2026’ and ‘25° ANNIVERSARIO DELLE RELAZIONI DIPLOMATICHE CON LA REPUBBLICA DI SERBIA’, the inscriptions “SOVRANO MILITARE ORDINE DI MALTA” and “POSTE MAGISTRALI”, the Order’s coat of arms and the face values “€ 1.35” and “€ 3.30”; and, on the € 3.30 stamp, the caption “San Giovanni Battista alato (XVII sec.), Monastero di Pustinja, Serbia” (Winged Saint John the Baptist (17th century), Pustinja Monastery, Serbia).
