the entire surface of the sheet has a view of the Vatican Gardens where the mosaic icon of the Blessed Virgin of Philermos, Protector of the Order of Malta since the 14th century, has been placed. The mosaic, by the artist Roberto Cassio, constitutes the stamp. The words “SOVRANO MILITARE ORDINE DI MALTA ” and “POSTE MAGISTRALI”, the coat of arms of the Order’s activities and the face value € 2.70 are written on it. Immediately below the stamp is the two-line inscription “SOVRANO MILITARE ORDINE DI MALTA POSTE MAGISTRALI”, surmounted by the Order’s coat of arms. Further down, always centred and on two lines, is the inscription “Mosaico raffigurante l’icona della Madonna del Fileremo, Protettrice dell’Ordine di Malta – Giardini Vaticani”.
