Stamp description

every year Poste Magistrali dedicates a set of stamps to St. John the Baptist, patron saint of the Order of Malta. Referring to the Gospel of Matthew, John is depicted wearing a camel-hair tunic, often carrying the cross and the lamb, proleptic symbols of the sacrifice of the Son of God, the coming of whom he is the prophet.
