Stamp description

The entire surface of the sheet depicts the Australian territory, where the Australian Association of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta has its headquarters in the city of Sydney.

On the upper left hand side, the flag of Australia and the flag of the Order’s activities are also represented, surmounting the number “50” and the years “1974-2024”, enclosed to form one of the four stamps on the sheet, with the relative face value “€ 3.20”.
On the right hand side of the sheet there are three photographic images, each forming an additional stamp. starting from the bottom, the € 1.25 stamp depicts the Knights and Dames of the Australian Association, at a religious ceremony, at the Church of St. Paschal’s, Brisbane. In the centre, the € 1.30 stamp depicts some volunteers of the Australian Association, during winter night care for the homeless in Melbourne. Above, the €2.45 stamp depicts the altar of Our Lady of Philermos Chapel, inside St Anne’s Church in Bondi, a suburb of Sydney, where the Australian Association’s religious ceremonies are held.

Each stamp bears the inscriptions ‘SOVRANO MILITARE ORDINE DI MALTA’ and ‘POSTE MAGISTRALI’, the emblem of the Order’s activities, as well as its face value. At the bottom, the sheet also bears the coat of arms of the Order’s activities and, on two lines, the inscriptions “AUSTRALIAN ASSOCIATION” and “SOVRANO MILITARE ORDINE DI MALTA”.
