At the end of the Jubilee 2025, over 2,000 volunteers of the Order of Malta, coming from many parts of the world, will have served in St. Peter’s Square, where the Order of Malta has habitually run a First Aid Post for medical assistance since 1950, and in the other three papal basilicas of San Giovanni in Laterano, Santa Maria Maggiore and San Paolo Fuori le Mura, where medical units are in operation for the duration of the Jubilee, on the basis of cooperation agreements with the Holy See. Every week, up to 40 volunteers, divided into teams of medical and rescue personnel, are ready to intervene in case of medical emergencies in the assigned places.

The € 1.30 stamp depicts the Order of Malta’s rescue vehicle operating in St. Peter’s Square, supporting the Order’s First Aid Post, both during religious celebrations and when the faithful are normally in the Basilica.

The € 1.35 stamp depicts two volunteers, manning the area of St. Peter’s Square, ready to intervene in case of medical necessity, with the equipment provided.

The € 2.55 stamp depicts two volunteers providing medical assistance to a patient inside the First Aid Post of the Order of Malta, located in St. Peter’s Square, next to the Basilica.

Lastly, the € 3.35 stamp depicts a group of volunteers, in front of the Basilica, from among those who are active weekly in the four papal basilicas in providing medical assistance to pilgrims throughout the Jubilee period. In the centre of the photo, on the right of the rescue vehicle, H.E. the Grand Hospitaller of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, Josef D. Blotz, under whose direction the Order’s First Aid Post operates in St. Peter’s Square.

Each stamp is completed by the legend ‘i VOLONTARI del GIUBILEO’, the inscriptions ‘SOVRANO MILITARE ORDINE DI MALTA’ and ‘POSTE MAGISTRALI’, the emblem of the Order’s activities and the face value.
