Stamp description

in the early decades of the 20th century, the enthusiasm aroused by the speed of both private and public transport is reflected in the advertising.   Posters, along with illustrated magazines and postcards, are an extraordinary means of propaganda, often a synthesis of industrial production and of an art that develops with new research and technical artistic experiments.

The 1927 London’s Tramways poster by Tony Castle, shows a man and a woman riding through the pleasant Putney Heath area and indicates the trams serving the area.
The 1938 Seeing Glascow by Tram and Bus poster was published in conjunction with the Empire Exhibition in Bellahouston Park. In the background, the Tait Tower built for the exhibition.
