Stamp description

the figurative arts, particularly painting, are an essential testimony to the evolution through the centuries of music and the musical instruments producing it. From the Peace Panel in the Standard of Ur, dating back to 2500 BC, to our days, iconographic sources have represented the sacred and social role of music, providing at the same time a testimony to the uses and the socio-cultural conditions of the times.
